India's ideal playing XI vs WI in the 1st T20I

All the ruckus and hullabaloo encompassing the World Cup has been done and dusted. It is time to move on to a new cycle till the next World Cup.

But, it would not be wise to look that far, for there are 2 ICC T20 World Cups approaching. One in 2020 and another one in the following year.

Therefore it is fitting that the Men in Blue switch to the shortest format in a bid to fine tune their preparations for the T20 showpiece event next year in Australia.

3 T20Is in the US and Caribbean would give us a perfect idea about team India's approach.

Ideal T2OI XI for Team India:

Openers-

1. Rohit Sharma-

After a stellar World Cup campaign where he was the leading run scorer, Rohit would be looking to cash in this opportunity while he is in this scintillating form. He would be sure to partner Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order.

2. Shikhar Dhawan-

After sustaining a thumb injury, all thanks to a Cummins bumper during the India vs Australia WC Group Clash, he is back in action and is primed to be Rohit's opening partner. These two are bound to give the Middle and Lower order an excellent platform for expressing themselves.

Middle Order-

3. Virat Kohli-

King Kohli is sure to portray his sheer class and determination by piling on a mountain of runs. His consistency is unparalleled be it any format. No better bet at No.3 than the master himself.

4. Shreyas Iyer-

After being left out of the WC Campaign, Iyer will look to make the most of this opportunity and cement a no. 4 spot for himself in future. His List-A and India-A records are stellar. He can rotate the strike as well as strike the ball a long distance. Might turn out to be a perfect choice at this position, given that he is given a consistent run.

5. Rishabh Pant-

After Dhoni opted to train with the paramilitary regiment, he is India's first choice wicketkeeper for India's tour of Caribean. He will look to make the most of this opportunity and show why the selectors, coach and skipper have placed immense faith with him. With that said, he should look forward to replicate his exemplary IPL performances. His keeping has much scope for improvement and will be under the scanner.

Lower Order-

6. Krunal Pandya-

The elder Pandya brother has proven his credentials at this stage from time to time. He is an explosive hitter and can be handy bowling few overs of his crafty Orthodox Left Arm- Spin too. He is primed to have another cracker of an outing in the Caribbean.

7. Ravindra Jadeja-

He showcased how good he can be with the bat during India's Semi-Final loss to New Zealand last month. He can pull, cut and even slog deliveries besides having an ability to rotate strike and stitch partnerships together in case of a collapse. His pin-point accuracy with the ball gives him an edge over other players selected for this slot.

8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar-

He has an extraordinary ability to swing the ball both ways and has a superb record in the death overs too with his wily variations of cutters, slower ball bouncers and yorkers. He is no mug with the bat too.

Tailenders-

9. Deepak Chahar-

Deepak has had limited opportunities at the international level but we all know what he has done for MSD-led IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. He swings the ball at decent pace and has played few cameos with the bat too. All in all, a superstar in the making.

10. Rahul Chahar-

He picked up 13 wickets in as many games for the eventual IPL 2019 winners Mumbai Indians. His consistency, accuracy, flight, drift and change in pace make him a prime contender for a legspinner's slot at the T20 World Cup next year.

11. Navdeep Saini-

He can regularly clock northwards of 150 kmph which is rare for an Indian pacer. Not only his pace but also his accuracy in hitting a consistent line and length was what we witnessed during his debut season in the IPL this year. He has had success in his List-A, Ranji and India- A outings for many years now.
